Surveys of Time and Histories is an exploration of the past, present and future, that examines how these different states define our progression within society. The series is comprised of images that examine this change through the lense of digitally coloured black and white negatives. The shifting of colours are representational of our changing society and the march of time and progress.
By using the technique of digichromatography – the interaction and combination of three photographs of filtered red, green, and blue layers – I create a full spectrum of colour with black and white film negatives. Each image was taken in rapid succession of one another, in an attempt to maintain the exact framing. By using the busyness of quotidien living, the traces of humanity are rendered as technicolour spectres while more seemingly permanent structures remain.
